So, professors should be allowed to fill students' heads with all manner of crap, but they shouldn't be allowed to teach them about the life and career of an absolutely legendary artist? At least they'll be learning something positive - like the fact that hard work and dedication can take you somewhere in life - instead of having their heads filled with propaganda, and the idea that they're owed everything. What's "stupid" about teaching people about the subject of one of America's greatest success stories? Is it because it would dispell the belief that so many college professors want their students to embrace - the belief that "people of color are prevented from getting ahead in Amsrica"? Selena proved that, regardless of the color of your skin, you can succeed with hard work and perseverance., and as a long - time fan, I know what she had to overcome to succeed, and it was more than most of us will ever have to. Is that not admirable? Does it not provide an example for the rest of us, regardless of our race or gender?
