Available on every platform possible. Relatively cheap. Supported by the devs constantly with updates and new features. Simple but distinct art style. Yeah I'm not at all surprised. Minecraft will never outsell Tetris but it is an outstanding achievement to be the 2nd best selling game of all time.

This is one of those games that are great when you are a kid or teenager but loses it's charm as you grow older. I bet it has to do with how your brain changes as you grow older. I'm just not as imaginative or creative as I was as a kid. I'm also not as entertained by sandboxes as I used to be.

The first time I played was Beta 1.7.3, I played up until release 1.3 I believe and stopped. I just recently came back to it and... damn. It just isn't the same. There's nothing wrong with the game itself it's just changed so much and the community has grown toxic. I remember when the 360 version of the game was announced, and now you can play it on any relevant platform ever, and discs are sold in stores, and you can find merchandise everywhere. I remember just being 1 of 2 in 4th Grade who knew about Minecraft. Now everyone and their mother plays. Crazy to see what happened to it.
