So why are some of these lyrics a litte off, grammatically?
According to the chatlogs from the Octo Expansion, this demo version of Ebb & Flow was made around when Marina and Pearl first met, not long after Marina had come to the surface. And if you've seen the octoling amiibos, you'll know they talk a little... different, with such phrases as:
"But if you are battle at day and at night, you are the more freshness!"
"It will give us many fun."
"It is being the pleasure to meat you."
(Yes it is spelled "meat")
They were trapped in the underground their whole lives can you blame them? So considering this was made by a young Marina, she probably had a while to go till figuring out surface world grammar.

I love these lyrics as a non-native english speaker because it really just sounds like the little snippets of the language you pick up from english songs, if someone told me to write a song in english when I was a kid, these are exacly the kind of random phrases and words I would have stringed together to make it

something about seeing that picture of Marina smiling after going on the surface for the first time and hearing that octobass throughout the song is so bittersweet to me. she's just gotten out of her shell, both literally and figuratively, that influence of her past experiences and culture of how she was living under Octavio's rule is still speckled throughout both her speech and her music, but she's finally found her own voice, and that's beautiful.

i always thought of this as Marina making this song while still underground, with only few resources she could sneak away, and is dreaming of Inkopolis from the rumors she's heard of it. i know this was made when she got to the surface, but that just how i've always thought about it

I love Splatoon music and I love how it’s a huge part of the lore. The attention to detail in the music is amazing, like Octavio’s jingle at the end of the song to show how he’s in the Octarians’ heads. Love this music, love this game, and I love your channel ♥︎

What i noticed is that in the octo expansion when this song is in fly octo fly it says end your enemy and in this song with just marina the lyrics say dancing with me i like that small change
