I was told that it would burn the batteries up if I left it plugged in and if I want to do that I should just get a table monitor

I like to use mine for listening to airport ATC. But I either hear only one side (the planes not the tower controller), or nothing at all. I assume it's because I must be closer to the airport (It's about 6 miles from me). But I listen to the same frequency online (liveatc.net) and can hear everything perfectly. Any thoughts on what the issue could be?

Mine was set up by an electronics dude, he put it into our Police Frequency, as a Police scanner I messed it up though 😅
