Dr. Shipko answered questions I've had for years. Thanks so much for having him speak. I'm a long term SSRI user unable to get off. Now I know why.

This man is very very very very very smart. It was a little hard to listen to, due to the thoughtfulness and the depth of his answers. Even in what he did not say. This was not an interview that I could just play in the background. I had to rewind and re-listened several times. I would love for Chef AJ and for Dr. Shipko to have some private conversations so she can bring us back the goodies of what he said. But I knew when she said that Dr. Lisle referred him that this was going to be a deep conversation.

So glad Chef AJ has covered this!!! I went thru horrific withdrawal from 10 years on a "chids dose" of Paxil! There is no such thing as informed consent in this space...so sad.

I want to thank you Chef AJ. I know so many people of all ages on these type drugs. Some have tried to get off and failed. I have one friend who searched for a doctor until she found a caring one who helped her. He helped her step by step get off and that was 20 years ago.

Thank you so much for this content, these should only be used in the most dramatic of circumstances because they have side effects, especially overtime and getting off psych drugs is a living horror.

people go on these drugs, because say they got divorced and feel depressed etc. And have no idea what they’re getting themselves into.

Also, some research shows a link between SSRI use and bipolar disorder

I was off sertraline for a year when I went into protracted withdrawal. It was unimaginable. I thought I had some kind of terrible systemic infection. Burning 🔥 nerves splitting migraine sweats insomnia from hell and terrible dark thoughts. I reinstated sertraline but suffered three months before slowly pulling up. Then tapered again!! And same thing a year off wham!!!! I’m in the middle of six week reinstatement now but very little relief. It’s heartbreaking. I’m far worse than I ever was before going on these horrible things. There has got to be a way off without the PAWS

“Doctors were saying these were safe and effective… no side effects…”. Hhhmm, doesn’t that sound oddly familiar? Just saying.

Fascinating video. I am currently on Sertralin, have been for over a year now. I wasn’t told about the possible side effects of coming off the drug. Obesity, impotence and worse suicidal thoughts. Wow! I don’t even take pain killers or flu medications. I only started with SSRI’s because of what my psychiatrist told me. Coincidentally, his office, I noticed, happened to be full of pharmaceutical stationary headed by the manufacturers logo. 🤔
Also does any body know much about St Johns Wart being any good as a antidepressant?

In America at least it doesn't speak in Italy either, they talk about antidepressants as a panacea without any side effects this scares me a lot for the future having been there

Like doctors who dare to tell it like it is. Why obscure something that many people have problems with?

Dr. Shipko's strategy for weaning people off dose cuts per month then when you're down to the last 20% of your original dose, you drop by 5% per month. I know for me, once I got down to less than half of my dose, it got very difficult and I had to taper more slowly. If your doctor is willing to help you could ask for a liquid suspension as many pills are very small and such tiny dose reductions are hard to make by cutting pills. You may need a scale to weigh your dose and some sandpaper to shave off enough of the drug. Sounds crazy....i know!
