There are actually another major reason why he is worship.

Many later Emperors/leaders of china from different dynasty and age wishes to extol the virtues of loyalty among the common folks, and who else to use as the prime example of that virtue, Guan Yu. So he was consistently celebrated, while other deities might fade away, or lose importance, every next leader will bring him up because loyalty is something they all seek among their men

I heard of Guan Yu from Maplestory :D There is a weapon called Guan Yu polearm and I used it when I played as Aran class. It was probably my favorite weapon to use. The polearm looks similar to the actual Guan Yu polearm :D

Fun fact if you see a guan yu statue with a red face in a chinese restaurant its probably a asian gangs base or hideout

2:20 quan yu is shown to be on his knee bowing and then get executed. But my version is he stood and used his sword, ran it on his neak and ended his own life. He died standing straight.
