What was that sonic boom in DC?

What was that sonic boom everyone heard in DC this weekend? Fighter jets were scrambling to intercept a private plane. Publicly available flight data suggests the pilot had fallen unconscious — most likely because of a loss of pressurization — and that the plane was flying on autopilot until it ran out of fuel.

This reminds me of that one ep on air diaster/mayday, where a Civilian learjet was not responding so they sent an (I think it was) F-16 to intercept it, to find out all the windows were frozen over, basically the jet depresserized and eveyone froze/ sufficated to death. The jet had payne stewart on it

For people wondering, the presumed situation was hypoxia where the plane depressurised and the pilot/passengers didn't put masks on quick enough. Even just a few seconds of low oxygen can cause you to stop thinking straight sometimes even forgetting to put the mask on

A similar case happened 20 or so years ago with a golfers private jet except it flew for another 4 hours after they lost contact (and the people on board presumably died)

In Germany sonic booming is illegal for training. So we only hear them when shit hits the fan. Had a similar incident a few weeks ago here and it brought up a lot of confusion 😂

Honestly I wouldn't even be mad especially with that explanation actually I think it'd be pretty cool to hear a Sonic boom I've only heard one from a far distance hearing a space shuttle enter over Edwards Air Force Base

I was on a trip to DC that day and all of us were so confused, we didn’t even know what happened until we got back as we weren’t on our phones as we visited different memorials and stuff
