I am a blacksmith. Used to go to Renaissance Fairs and Smith as a demo and to make things for people.

Sometimes people who were all into the Renaissance thing would come up to my teacher and gripe that certain methods he used were not "period".

He would explain to them that if a blacksmith in that time period had had the techniques available to him, he most certainly would have taken advantage of them. It's ignorance and prejudice that would think that a sixteenth century blacksmith would not have taken advantage of any and all advances in metalworking. We'd all still be dealing in pig iron and wrought iron.

This is along the lines of your comparing Ben Franklin's and whoever's having slaves to today.

Why is it these same geniuses seem to NO issue with the REAL slavery that is going on today?

Hi Rabbi Lapin, as a Muslim Pakistani woman, I would agree and say being political correct should be moved away from these studies and research as much as possible. I would say Indian families in general priorities education and hard work, also entrepreneurship a lot more then Pakistani working class families. I've also noticed many young Pakistani males adopt the Hip-Hop street culture, which once again destroys values, principles and heritage. Overall, this causes people to have poverty based mindsets. I could feel sorry for my people and continue to self-victimize, but a time comes where one must snap into reality and realise this helpless, non-proactive mindset will only ruin generations to come. Also, blaming the government for being racist or whatever people love to use are now just becoming weak excuses, where information is available every where and free courses available to improve one's skills and mindset. If once refuses and uses their socio-political background, then that person is simply just lazy and nor has he or she obeying God's law, which is to become independent and not dependent on state or charity.
