A South Carolina jury found disbarred attorney Richard "Alex" Murdaugh guilty of murder in the 2021 killings of his wife and son.

Murdaugh, 54, was found guilty of two counts of murder and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Murdaugh's wife Maggie, 52, and son Paul, 22, were found fatally shot near dog kennels at the family's home on June 7, 2021. Murdaugh admitted in court that he lied to investigators when he told them he was not at the kennels before finding their bodies.

After the verdict was read, Judge Clifton Newman scheduled Murdaugh's sentencing at 9:30 a.m. Friday and thanked the jurors for their service. The minimum sentence for murder is 30 years in prison. The South Carolina Attorney General's Office is seeking life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Great job, jurors. I thought it would be a hung jury. It was all circumstantial evidence but there was SO much!

Seems like he forgot to play his 'sniffing act' during sentencing, LOL. Off to jail with this despicable waste of flesh. Good luck keeping up the facade, Buster.

Sad all the way around. That much power and money - that family could have done a lot of good, but instead they were ruined by their privilege.

I cannot imagine the last seconds of Maggie’s life seeing her husband murder their son then point the gun towards her. Despicable.

It’s a lot harder to sweep it under the rug with the whole world watching….No matter how influential and untouchable that you think you are. Thank you jurors! ❤

I knew Alex would have zero tears when hearing the guilt verdict. He’s no longer acting.

Buster should be next for killing Stephen Smith.. Now that his family has NO MORE POWER, Buster should be indicted..
Wonder if Buster will be allowed to go back to his college after being caught cheating.. Buster should not consider being a lawyer any more.. There will be no family power in SC anymore..

Paul is responsible for the guilty verdict putting his dad at the crime scene. Well done Paul, well done. Rest In Peace.

I watched this trial from the beginning, posing myself as a juror. My verdict, had I been in deliberations, would have been guilty on all counts. The timeline was just too close for him not to have been there at the shooting. Although I believe the verdict is justice, my heart aches for all the family. Even for Alex. How did he come to take such a path of destruction? He has wasted and thrown his life away. He threw away his family, friends, and colleagues. And for what? For his son, Buster, I wish I could take his pain away. All I can say is, the who thing is sad. So very, very sad. No joy do I relish in this outcome.

Just seeing his expression on the first verdict, was to me like it was acceptance for him, his thoughts of "well I tried" looked like they flooded his mind all within about 6 seconds and then copped with his forever steal home

Thank you to the jurors---I was worried. They saw through the lies & timeline doesn't lie. A sincere mention to an awesome judge that had to deal with a lot through this. Justice prevailed !
