We had spring (60 degrees) here yesterday in my zone 5b garden. Back to winter (32 degrees) with snow today. My star magnolia blooms in May. Loved your tour of garden nursery yesterday!

Can’t wait for spring to really arrive. The garden will look gorgeous. I’m going into Autumn in subtropical Queensland, Australia so in the middle of tidying up the summer left overs and planting annual. Cheers Bronwyn 🇦🇺

David did a spectacular job edging, crisp and well defined. I just sowed Nigella and scabiosa. Yarrow is on the agenda for tomorrow
The camellias are fantastic. Having gone to college in NC and now living in TX, I do have camellia envy. They don't grow in caliche.

2:20 if you want to keep the tree/bush small then you can take a spade shovel and root prune it by making a circle around it. a reciprocating saw also works well if you don't have too many rocks in the soil.

I just started reading your Foodscape book and it's so good and has inspired me to plant edibles and ornamentals in my homes landscape. ❤️ I found a native plant nursery right down the road from me, and I took your book with me. When I was checking out, a nursery worker asked to see the book and the other told me he watches you on YouTube. So, here I am. 😄 Thanks for the inspiration! We are in 9B, central Florida.

Brie, Oh yes! I saw the Stilh brand at my local Ace Hardware store. I like that you showed it! New Homestead, New power tools! The list is very long as well as you know with a new house to completely decorate. Btw! I got the best idea from Sarah Richardson! IKEA furniture legs, screw right into the bottom of a box spring mattress. I can't say enough thanks to you for following her now!
Enjoy the weather, it wasn't so long ago you guys had S N O W!

Your flowering trees and shrubs are so beautiful! I’m landscaping our very open front yard and wanted to plant a magnolia stellata as a centerpiece, but I’m wondering if it would do well through the heat of the summer being so exposed. We’re in Durham and our front yard faces almost due East with no other trees, so it would get full sun most of the day in the summer. Your “dirty tissue” comment was very funny, by the way. I feel your heartbreak. 🙂

do poppies, larkspur, blue button, etc survive the frost??? I had some volunteer cosmos get killed. I had read they were cold tolerant down to 25F, but it got down to 21F in charlotte, nc. you have a beautiful garden, just curious what if anything got hurt by frost.
