I have seen MANY videos about cameras, lenses, aperture settings, etc. and this is BY FAR the best video on this particular subject I have ever seen. Thanks!!!

The only youtube video which gives you distances which can give you a very important hint for comparing the focal lengths. Thanx man!

The best lens comparison video I have seen on YouTube! I'll say it again for the people in the back. THE BEST LENS COMPARISON VIDEO I HAVE SEEN. This is extremely useful and the detail in your presentation is great. Thank you for a great video. I just started editing my first documentary and felt more comfortable with a lot of your tips and knowledge you have shared. One thing that I think would be a good future topic is how to transition or go between different interviews.

The distance in ft is a really valuable piece of feedback! Really thorough stuff including that

Mate, this is gold. Was searching YouTube land for this and just couldn't find it. And what do you know, it was on my feed. Hats off to the "little red man".

Each time, the 35mm (equivalent) has been the most pleasing to my eye. It would explain why I own so many 24/35mm lenses for Super35/FF, respectively.
Great video, Mark! Also, cheers from Toronto!

This video is so important! thank you for taking the time to do this for us Mark! Definitive proof that different sensors do not change foreground/background compression with equivalent focal lengths.

Awesome!! so a low aperture is not the only factor that increases the shallow depth of field, increase in focal length also does.

thanks for sharing. (especially the screenshot)

This is exactly what I needed, and at the right time! Shot a two cam (A cam: C100 MKii B cam: 5D iii) last week and with the social distancing I was having issues over the right focal length. This would have speeded up my decision making process. Thanks!

This is really useful as I'm trying to create a documentary soon and the hardest part is definitely the interview look

It’s good that you did the distance test too, gives a much better sense of how they translate a medium shot. 24 and 35 are usually my faves on super 35. I actually find a 28mm on super 35 a really nice field of view to work with. Normal ish, bit of width to bring in some surroundings and perspective whilst having enough compression to pull in the background a bit.

Best comparison especially when you include the distance. It can help people to figure out which lense suit their studio size. Im going in 35mm after seeing this.
