I might be biased in my judgement. I first heard this dreamy piece when I was about18. We were in a scouting winter camp, somewhere in the south of Poland, in the late 1980s. At that time, listening to such music - I guess - was a sign of more subtle musical taste. I remember dark winter nights with such music in a room with the other mates sleeping. There was one couple, a girl named Anna (my best friend's younger sister) whom I fancied but she was in love with another boy, a tall, witty guy. They would sleep together, no sex was involved as we were all sleeping in one room. They were just intimate with each other. And Vangelis was oozing subtly from a cheap, East Germany style casette player. And there was me with my longings and fantasies about Anna...

Who in the hell would give a masterpiece like this a "thumbs down?"

Pour ma part, Rêve est un des meilleurs morceaux de Vangelis.

The mystery, the deep pond of feelings attached to it, the haunting beauty about this masterpiece is unspoken. Actually, the long pieces from Vangelis are otherworldly, this one and maybe, the Bladerunner Blues (among other jewels...) are the top notch, the cream of the cream. Simply heavenly, literally....a dream.

Ouvi essa musica no programa musica da nova era, final dos 80, inicio dos 90. Maravilhosa! É um tipo de meditação pronta!

You know of repertoire.  I've been homeless for 37 years.  For me to keep music is difficult because of the need to keep it safe and undamaged.  There are hundreds and hundreds (possibly thousands and thousands) of recordings that I value.  BUT . . . how to keep them with me.  "Opera Sauvage" was a recording that I carried around with me for quite some time.  One of my 1st encounters with Vangelis . . . among many, many others.

I have almost nothing in common with my father, but he is responsible for my love of electronic music. Finally got this on vinyl.

Peut-être le plus grand morceau synthétique jamais composé. Vangelis a l'art de maîtriser les ambiances. On est sur de l'air de bout en bout... c'est magique.

it sounds perfect. there s no moment u get bored. it hasn t predictible moments. any moment of this song, any note, any sound, have their beauty. the progressiv sound beat sounds like a beating heart, of an imortal man who is running to get something important in his life. this  it s an imortal song.
