Really annoying thing, is when a teammate complains and says he is a master player on his OG account

Like... if you are smurfing, then don't be suprised that everyone arent as good as you.

Great video for beginners, but some experienced players could use that "don't take chat to heart" section.

The first mistake was installing Smite *huhuhuh* I’m such a comedian.

But for real, don’t take chat to heart like Duke says, and don’t one trick, it’s better to learn all gods than stick with 1

speaking of people never playing more then 1 god, thats why i love assault it forces them to try more gods.

Despite using it often, I still think Jungle Practice mode is too hidden in the menus.
It should honestly have its own shiny button on the main menu that everyone can see as soon as they log in.

It would also be great if you could change god in the mode without having to back out to main menu (even if it has to give you a loading screen to change).

I've been playing for over 5 years now and I still play Co-op. Sometimes it's nice to be able to put on some music and not think too hard about playing well, and you can help new players by helping them adjust.

I didn't know that you could return to base by pressing a button for about three days, I'd manually run back each time. My friends had a good laugh on that one. Considering they were playing with me the whole time.

7:50 This may be getting a bit too advanced for the target audience of this video, but in a lot of situations, it is better to target the enemy solo laner over their minions. When you attack the enemy god, their minions start attacking you, which means they aren't attacking your minions. It's possible to outclear just by targeting the god and taking minion aggro in solo. You get pressure off of that as well as off of the damage you do to the enemy solo, and most warriors can tank minions throughout the game.

It does take some practice in solo to figure out when to target minions versus the god, so it's not an absolute beginner topic. But I think it's one of the most important things to learn to be a good solo laner, and one of the biggest mistakes I see in other solo laners. It takes practice, but you have to figure out which gods should focus minions, which should focus the enemy god, and at what point in the game to do either one.

Some people will focus minions way too hard early game, and I'll get massive pressure and early kills because they refuse to fight. Others will be chasing me down trying to attack me while I proxy in midgame. Midgame fighting in solo is like slapping each other with wet noodles. They waste 30 seconds attacking me while I kill a wave behind their tower, I heal up the damage immediately, and then I go to mid and we kill their team because the other guy still has to clear the wave.

Hey the last one piece of advice was me!
Great video Duke!

One thing to add on "putting too much weight on others players words"

If someone is advising you to fix your build... nicely ofc, to help the fight against the enemy team... please listen to them... sometimes ofc. Ik some people troll newer people but if you dont have any anti heal in your build and someone tells you to build one... please do so

Me and my brother have a saying about smite minions
"Minions OP"
It never a good thing to forget how much damage they do to either you or the titan

at 9:55 in the footage when you get 2 kills and clear tower and someone still tries to initiate a surrender presumably because they were doing poorly. i felt that in my soul.

As a seasoned player it’s still good to be reminded of these bad habits lol

Biggest mistake I made was having fun in arena and thinking that the rest of the game was built around that experience

When I started playing Smite I remember watching some of your videos to learn more about the game and mechanics. To see that still to this day you do this type of videos helping out new players makes me have nothing but respect for you my man. You're doing god's work out here and we all should appreciate how much you support the game this way. Much love Duke

Thanks so much for this guide . I’m a new player. Only been playing for two weeks and for the first few days I played arena exclusively just to get used to mechanics and a few gods. Then I started playing other modes for the win of the day bonus favor. I fell in love with siege, hated clash but now I really enjoy clash . Assault is always fun whether I win or lose and I just started liking Joust. Definitely hard for me I’m trying to find a role I can do well. I’m mainly a support in other modes besides arena. I’ve been avoiding conquest out of fear but seeing your video . I will give it a shot ! Still scared but I’ll do my best !

a MAJOR point that was missed here:
BUY WARDS.
this goes hand in hand with the "look at your minimap" point, but buying wards is absolutely essential to all levels of play. placing a ward gives you so much information, its practically the best item in the game, and its also subsequently the cheapest. buy wards, and then look at your map.
