What if 'Independence Day' Happened? (Part 2)

Here is a follow up to my scenario detailing more about a theorized world after an attack on the world like in Independence Day.

The only reason Australia's capital didn't get destroyed is because no one knows which city it is.

When it comes to the Harvesters losing the ground war in Africa, the novelization explained how this could happen. They actually are not as technologically advanced as they let on. Their ships are described as ancient and rusted. These ships have been around for thousands of years. And that even their city destroying weapon is similar to a giant fire bomb.
Seems like the Harvesters hit a certain level of technology and then just stagnated on their one successful strategy for victory. So the aliens are not as adapt at ground warfare as they could have been due to this stagnation and relying on one plan for victory. With that in mind, the idea that they eventually lost to a less advanced species on the ground is not so far fetched. Especially when you consider just how horribly outnumbered the Harvesters would be. They are trapped in an unfamiliar and hostile environment, surrounded by enemies, along with an inability to
resupply, replace or even properly repair their damaged tech. Their failed invasion has become a war of attrition and the odds are very much not in their favor.

Hollywood often forgets about Australia in their disaster movies. It's something we often joke about here.
Aliens are invading? Quick come to Australia, you'll be right.
Giant meteorite is coming? Quick come to Australia, you'll be right.
New ice age? Quick come to Australia, you'll be right.
Armageddon is here? Quick come to Australia, you'll be right.
We might have snakes, sharks and spiders, but at least according to Hollywood, we can avoid most of the humanity ending disasters.
