Here's an easy intro to vibrations. I use a weight on a spring to show how changing mass and stiffness affects the natural frequency (resonant frequency).

I'm afraid not. That sounds suspiciously like an empirical correction for the mass of the spring. I assumed the spring was light enough that the mass was negligible.
