What if we bring to life an Egyptian mummy from its DNA? Ancient Egyptians believed firmly in the afterlife, and can we accomplish their belief with modern genetic cloning capabilities using their DNA? The answer is most likely no. Let me explain. True cloning requires an intact living cell, and it has only been successful using a host animal of the same species. Cloning humans or even mummies would bring ethical questions. We would need in vitro fertilization and a surrogate volunteer. The successful rate of implanted cloned cells would be low and is uncertain how high would be the risk of genetic diseases or cancer in a human clone. It would be impractical and unethical to bring back to life a mummy. Let’s say we try to bring back to life Nefertiti if we would have had her DNA. We could run into the question: How do we know if we ported her memories and emotions if we manage to rebuild her body? Or we can have a Theseus paradox. By creating a clone of Nefertiti how do we know whether the clone is the same as the original? But the question still remains:

I think the real question would be if we brought back an ancient Egyptian ruler would they still have a claim to the throne?

Cloning doesn't mean bringing them back to life, it just brings someone who is genetically the same into the world. It will do nothing except seeing how the average Egyptian looked like. The person would act like any other human alive today.

Maybe thats what they ment by afterlife... knowing one day ppl will be able to bring them back. the future is the key. Except we have gone backwards

She would have reincarnated many times over. The clone would be a body of cells.
Dolly the sheep clone did not live that long and it took over 200 tries.

But yet cloning has been going on for years.

Could probably do a partial clone and then the missing parts of the DNA, slice it with maybe the surrogate DNA. then it wouldn't be a clone so then with their really being ethical portion of the question?

we have preserved 80% of the ancient Egyptian DNA (Egyptian now)

It's very difficult and maybe impossible to clone humans unlike animals.

A clone is a copy. But it would not be her life factors as we have grown in the way we live she would not have the same experiences to make her her?

I think the risk would be a little high especially with the lifestyle that Egyptians had with them being incest and then having genetic problems I don't think they would last long even if they was in a fetal state

How do we know we won't destroy a world they have gone to?

Cause the government of the world is so ethical, I would bet they already did this

Im sure that they have been doing this already. They will forever keep us in the dark about it, though.

No ... Because we don't have that ability

One thought, would the clone have a soul. Would it know right from wrong. Would it be what we call a soulless empty creature. 👹

I don’t get the whole cloning thing. You only bring back the bag of bones (sorry for phrasing). It’s experiences that make us who we are. You can never bring someone back to life, we should really start to accept that, it’s getting ridiculous.

Maybe in the future when the technology is better

You don't have to clone .Because Nefertiti is reborn.
