ionization alarms are good now because first alert, brk, kidde, and google nest . They also have the 8th gen detecder . Also the combowe ones only have ionization but you shold bye the combow ion and photo and a Carbon Monoxide . 👍👍 . do not bye the cheap kidde ones.
you shold bye the P9050 or the i9010 or the P9040 :)

I think they are usually lithium ion also worth mentioning the cdc camr out with a report that lithium batteries dont last 10 years even the batteries manfs have expressed concerns that 10 year alarms can work poorly

still not explained - why dual is worse then just photoelectric? Dual has both ionization detector plus Photoelectric.

Would you only buy name brands (first alert, kiddie) or are the unique brands on Amazon safe as well if they say they have passed different certifications.

You missed out a lot of photoelectric ones in the image

Exactly what happened when I went to the store today, not knowing which one to buy. 😆😆

I wouldn't disagree with nearly everything you say. But, I would only buy a brand that has a proven history of quality and most importantly reliability. Some company's have had way too many recalls in recent history.

Great video. Thanks. How about these new Nest smart fire 🔥 alarms? Do you recommend them?

Aren't those built-in batteries typically lithium primary cells/batteries rather than lithium-ion? It's a nitpick, but they're not the same technology.

I'd love to hear your opinion on smart smoke alarms, like the Nest.

good stuff...what about the new Radio Frequency (R.F.) feature now available on some 110V S/A ? This feature sends a signal (e.g. communicates) with all other S/A in the house without the need to have the "Red Wire" connected to all - and when one sounds (actuated) all go off. ??? Great video - thanks !

What’s wrong with a dual alarm? Both photoelectric and ionization?

Low because lpg gas is heavier then air, so it stays low and highly combustible. isn't that why they say to keep gas detectors low?

i sorry sir you should not give advice unless you have adequate scientific evidence to back it up TExas a & m did study that stated in flaming fires where ion is better it still had a 20% failure and it has about 60% in smoldering fires photo electric has a faiure rate of approximately 4% for both smoldering and flaming fires

Thanks for the review. I had a First Alert PC1210 that was chirping this morning. I couldn't get it to stop. I looked that up and learned how to disconnect it by breaking the tab and pushing button to disconnect. Now I need to buy a new one. I'll get a combo smoke/CO2 with a photoelectric sensor.

Ionization alarms are good, you should have one, but you should also have a photoelectric one. Ionization ones aren’t bad themselves, they detect fast flaming fires well. Photoelectric detect smoky fires well. In my house ive noticed that the ionization ones are less likely to go off from cooking smoke than photoelectric

What the heck you’re supposed to have a dual sensor not just ionization or photoelectric it combines the technology of ionization and how it can detect fast Flaming fires with photoelectric technology and slow burning fires photoelectric is only intended for areas that are obscured by cooking smoke or have other problems with nuisance alarms like steam. A problem with photoelectric is that you have to clean them very often otherwise they will go off virtually any time you forget to clean them I know this because I had one photoelectric sensor in my room that would not shut up anytime I did not clean it. So please correct this video!!
