Anyone that had clear skin as a teen and started suffering acne on their late 20s? Leave your tears as a comment. 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Contributing factors for acne in adulthood:
1. Fluctuation in hormones (women)
2. Stress
3. Pollens, pollutants, personal care products (avoid fragrance)
4. Overly aggressive skincare practices (mechanical exfoliants, scrubbing, chemical exfoliants)
5. Over washing your face
6. Diet - avoid skim milk, whey protein supplements, high levels of b12/biotin/iodine

Found out through blood work that I was insulin resistant. I was told to cut down on sugar/simple carbs...I decide to eliminate sugar. Within a month my cystic hormonal acne improved 90%.

I never had any major problems with acne as a teenager, but my skin freaked out big time in my mid-twenties.
Once I left my ex and the toxic relationship of 4 years, everything started clearing up... It's been 10 months and my skin looks amazing.

I just want to testify that Dr. Dray’s advice has made a massive difference. Just removing fragrance and dye from my routine has helped so much! Adding salicylic acid has brought my skin from dripping with oil to nice and balanced. I’m so grateful I found her channel!

Changing your pillowcase every night is tedious, but helps a lot👌

No acne until I hit menopause at age 54. It’s been a roller coaster. I’ve tried it all and fell for all the hype offered out there. Finding Dr Dray and simplifying and minimizing my routine to many of her recommendations has been a huge blessing and improved my skin tremendously. 🥰😍

I've been following your differin routine for 2 months and my skin has changed so much. Getting rid of toner and witch hazel while adding sunscreen and more gentle products has been the best thing for my acne. I'm so thankful for your expertise 🙏

It’s so unfortunate how skincare companies have warped our view. 16 years old, I started breaking out - for the next 15 years I washed my face 2x a day, used astringent, toners, frangances, went to product to product (SA, BP, tea tree) with only minor difference to my acne.

At 31, I read Beyond Soap and found this channel, then did what was said — gentle cleanser, fragrance free moisturizer, sunscreen, once a day — and my face is much better. I still have acne but I’m so glad to know my skin was breaking out partly because how aggressive I’ve been to it.

PS - I love your channel!! As a nurse, I appreciate the very technical descriptions of conditions and how you explain them to the layperson. Such an awesome idea for a channel!

Hi Good Doc, Im 56, and have had a hysterectomy back when I was 39, and Im on alot of medications for chronic pain. So with that said, I have a ton of inflammation in my skin and body. I've also have been through chemo several years ago. I have some active acne along my cheeks, & chin. I've learned alot from Your videos and want to thank You for being so real and helping us.

Literally never broke out until I was 22 & now it seems like it will never leave. It’s not bad, but I always have at least one spot on my face. ☹️

I bought the SA Cerave cleanser, and use the Elta MD sunscreen daily. Thank you Dr. Dray, for helping my skin clear after 4 rounds of Accutane. The zinc in the mineral sunscreen has made my skin less oily and so much more clear.

I have had acne since I was 11 and I’m 22 now :( I have followed every piece of skincare advice and how tried everything under the sun for months on end with no positive results. In fact, I have some of the worst acne I’ve ever had now. I feel like I can barely look in the mirror. I’ve been prescribed tretinoin so I’ll be starting that very soon, praying for good results.

I’ve had teenage acne, pretty severe, on my face, chest and back. Needless to say, my teen years and early adulthood were hell from a self-esteem stand point. Mid 20s-accutaine, which helped a ton but my acne came back, although not as bad as before. Two kids later and I’m still breaking out. Birth control pills always helped but never cleared my skin up completely. Finally, in my mid-30s I read about spironolactone and talked to my OBGYN about it (because I still broke out on my face, back and chest even in my mid 30s). Got a prescription and a miracle happened only 2 weeks after I started taking the drug. My skin was 100% clear! Not even a period pimple. I know everyone is different but for many women (this is not a treatment that’s prescribed for men) this is the only thing that worked. I wish I had learned about it sooner.
Oh, and yes, totally had flare ups when trying biotin!
