I'm a student at this school and we are safe. It been 10 to 1 that this has been happening. We are okay. Looks like no one was injured or killed. Idk. But everyone is safe from the school

As a student of shadow, it is very frightening hearing the lockdown announcement, and running as fast as you can to a room, for example, I was in the quad at time of the lockdown, and had to run all the way to the band room to stay safe. Massive respect to the metro police, and the swat for handling the situation well, given all that has happened this week.

Even if it's just a false alarm the fear of what could come to pass has already taken it's tole on students, parents, and faculty. We're on the bleeding edge of being scared every day. This is surely not becoming of what's supposed to be a great country. I hope that anyone who needs therapy gets it. 🙏

So glad you guys are ok. My heart breaks that our kids have to deal with this. This is not ok and needs to stop.

This is ridiculous. We have turned into a nation of fear because of crazy people. That ain’t right. It’s time to rise up and stand against the evil. Or do you want to live isolated and afraid all of the time? As a parent myself, I know it’s hard letting go of your children, but we have to at some point, or they will resent us for it, or turn into the very thing we fear…crazy people. We are not the first generation to face life and death trials over our children. Think of the ones before. Think of sending your children off to Vietnam or Nazi Germany. And yet they did…to conquer evil. At some point, we must admit we do not control a damn thing in life, except our own thoughts. We must trust in God to protect them, and us. And we must have faith that there is something better beyond this life on earth. We all die sometime. Better to live free, than die afraid never having lived at all. Don’t let the enemy destroy that hope. “Be strong and courageous in the Lord and the power of His might.”

What a horrifying thing to even have to have a lockdown (even without shots fired). I hate that our kids are growing up this way.

Just a swatt, same thing happened at my school last year. Some kid didn’t want to fight someone so they ran to the office and said the kid had a gun and the whole school immediately went on lockdown and the police came in and tackled the poor kid to the ground.

This is getting way out of control. Why there isn't police or armed vets at every school across the nation is beyond me.

Here we go again. Playing politics.
Fear, Fear, Fear.
Gun Control, Gun Control, Gun Control but not a word about mental illness.

As a CCSD student, I have never felt safe going to school. I am appalled.

I’ve never regretted my decision to be childfree and I’m 62.
Dodged a lifetime of drama/trauma.

The lockdown happened while I was in lunch {since today I had 1st lunch} and me and everyone else in the cafeteria has been witnessing the police and Swat team outside for hours searching

So, there is a suspected person with a gun in the area and they have parents standing around outside? That makes no sense, anyone standing around outside would therefore be in danger.

I taught at an inner-city school that was known in the district as being the school that spent the most time in lockdown. Our protocol for parent reunification was to have an alternative site where the parents picked up students (we never actually had to do this!). This keeps the campus clear of extra people that could contaminate a crime scene, if that is necessary. Plus, all of those parents are interfering with law enforcement work, provide a good hiding place for an intruder to hide/escape with the gathering crowd, and create a crowd control situation when the students are finally released. The school district may not be saying much because they may not know much more than they are reporting. I understand that they are reporting that the students are all safe and that there are no reports of shooting inside the school. Staff inside the school are most likely not giving statements because this is the sort of thing that would go through the district communications office.
