The real legend is the one coyote who took him in even though he was an outsider. A true good heart

Little guy got dumped out in the desert with nothing and then worked his way up the coyote social hierarchy and became a king, what an absolute legend.

Based on his scars, he looks like he may have had to fight for his respect amongst those coyotes. True inspiration.

That he walked that easy on a leash just after 3 days from being rescued! AMAZING! He is going to be an absolute amazing friend to whomever adopts him.

The fact that a pack of wild animals showed him more compassion than the monsters who dumped him in the dessert is so sad. I hope he finds a great home

edit: the smart asses are hella noisy in these comments 💀 This story has garnered NATIONAL attention. If he did run away, the rightful owners would've most likely heard it by now. There have been multiple claims of ownership but none have turned out to be credible. The Mojave desert is, unfortunately, a common dumpsite for unwanted pets amongst other things. So, it's really not that difficult to believe that he was, in fact, dumped as the lady from the Southern Nevada Trapping Team posited. Now, if you still believe he's a runway despite that information, that's your prerogative. However, petty semantics does not change the fact that there are horrible people who have dumped pets in that area.

The fact that wild coyotes (which like wolves are undomesticated canines) accepted him as their own, when humans dumped him in the desert was kind of heartwarming to hear.

The fact that he was abandoned BY HUMANS, and is still willing to come back to them and trust humans just shows how pure the souls of dogs are.

Ghost might be one of the greatest dogs of all time. He literally had a rags-to-riches story as a DOG. He definitely has the dawg in him.

I literally shed a tear seeing his scars, then hearing he’d eaten rocks because he was so hungry. He’s a survivor, and he’s beautiful.

Amazing how a dog that lived so long in the wild is so gentle and good with people.

Thank you to the coyotes who took him in. They could’ve killed him or abandoned him, but they didn’t. I thank them for keeping ghost safe. 😊

This is a mind boggling story. I bet people were fighting over who got to adopt him.

Our dog, Winnie, was half coyote and half, would appeared to be, Great Pyrenees. We found her as a puppy. A neighbor said that her mother ran with the coyote pack. He took me out one evening to where the pack usually emerged, and there was a female dog that look just like Winnie. She was a great dog for 14 years. She just passed away last.

The coyotes were kinder to him than humans were, I'm not surprised.

Hes not alone. Theres tons of strays in Lake Mead. Some get eaten by coyotes, some get adopted. We found a big old sheep dog while we were honeless there. Called the rangers to have them pick him up. Hope hes in a good home right now.

Ghost is an all around badass from his name to his battle scars to his survival story. Shout-out to the coyotes that took him in and the team that rescued him. I'm sure this distinguished gentleman will have no trouble getting adopted ❤️

All my respect to the rescue team for not giving up on finding Ghost. He’s such a sweet little guy. To the person who abandoned him, shame on them! That was a very cruel, inhumane and despicable thing to do to a living being.
