Also, government jobs tend to be in buildings that aren't at risk of suddenly collapsing or catching fire with inadequate or even blocked fire exits.

People finding out that "social credit" isn't a new concept and that it was around just as long as bureacracy and corruption.

Thank you so much for covering this! I've been actively taking part in the protests since the 18th. We really need more awareness for this, so again, thank you so much. Too many people have died already

Gonna be honest. Their fathers put their lives on the line. They deserve to have help in securing the future of the children.

Well, here in ex-Yugoslav countries (Especially in Serbia and Croatia) this system is also in place, children of soldiers from wars in 90s have benefits in public employment and geting into colleges and whats worse some people are actively lieing about their parents involvement in war (like, for example someone who worked as policemen or reservists are lieing about being on frontlines or being disabled do to war).

He just described jobs pretty much everywhere in the world. Government jobs are like that pretty much everywhere. Stable difficult to get fired. Pay extremely well. How is this unique to Bangladesh?

This P.M of my country has made it her family property. Everybody becomes a traitor if he/she speaks against her corruptions.

Same in Iran for those who fought in the war with iraq in the 80s

Sth similar exists in Iran as well, people who's relaltives (parents, grand parents, uncles, etc.) Fought in Iran_Iraq war enjoy a set of special bonuses that makes it MUCH easier for them to go to the best universities and getting public jobs; the more the said relative was hurt(more time in front lines, injuries and being captured) the higher the bonuses

At first, I don't see those priorities as a bad thing, but that should only be for the first generation, those heroes kids, but after them. It should not be. Grand and great grand kids should not get it.

I don’t know people fought for a country it’s natural their descendants are the first one to enjoy the fruits of their labour

This policy probably makes sense when you need soliders to fight for a country but didn't have anything really to offer at the time.

There are benefits to the children of veterans in our country too, as we had a tough war of independence, it's not seen as a problem at all societally. I think it may be due to the fat you can still live a pretty decent life even without them, and the sacrifice of your parents may have cost them tons of opportunities in their younger productive years. The issue we have is people who fake their veteran status for the benefits, or those who abuse it to get more than is appropriate while the really harmed veterans (such as those who lost a leg etc) sometimes don't get nearly enough

Turbo DEI, "your ancestry matters more than merit".

That's basically a type of nobility.

Your forefather fought on the right side of a war and made great contributions to it?

Well, you're set of life!

Only thing missing is legal/social obligation to fight in case there is another war.
