Lower prices may be showing up wholesale, but dealers haven't gotten hungry enough yet and they can still pay floor plan

Honestly just cheaper to keep what you have and use the money if you got it to repair that old car. Sometimes a junk yard engine is cheaper and better then buying a new or used car. As with body panels door rusted through go to a pick a part grab a door slap it on. So what if the truck is green and the door is white. A person just saved cash doing that repair.

There are people who can afford the overpricing or dont care. That gives the dealers false hope. They continue to keep their prices high and wait for these unique customers. Many dealers aren't smart enough to see the majority of people can't afford these vehicles. The only way to drive prices down is an on purpose hold out.

There's still enough people out there who accept to loose their shirts for buying the vehicle they desire, so the price is still pretty high: the old demand/offer law.

I have older vehichles. Peeling paint is NOT an indication of not beeing taken care of. I keep my vehichles in good running order, interiors are kept in good condition. Paint is cosmetic. And I can paint them for WAY less than a new POS.

Seems pretty clear to me, dealers are just predators.

With any old vehicle on a dealers lot. I'd definitely check out the inner n outer rocker panels 1st for rust and holes.

The fact that the car market relies on financing is the main reason these companies had the balls to increase their prices so much. If everyone only ever bought cars they could afford the market would be forced to produce them as such.
The greater financial structure is the problem. There will never be a solution until some new company comes along and makes a car without bells and whistles

I am thinking in saving fo two or three years for a used. Prices look better than in April, so I feel like I will get a great deal.

Yeah I don't make enough to even look at a used car from a dealership, majority of the time their cheapest shitboxes cost 8 to 10 months of my annual income.

The real deterent on the used side for me is the interest rates (I'm also in Canada). Even with really good credit, you're looking at 7-10%. This is while dealers still want top dollar for even 10 year old vehicles.
We were wanting a new Rav4 (which are still really hard to get somehow) to replace our 22 year old Mitsubishi, but i think we'll wait. I dont think the dealerships are getting desperate enough yet 😂

Dealer still selling thw same used cars for the same price as 2 years ago. Idk... And many solo sellers are also trying to OVERPRICE sell. Kinda funny.
