The 2JZ Engine’s SECRET WEAKNESS!

The 2JZ GTE most notably found in the MKIV Toyota Supra is known as a legendarily strong engine, but is there a hidden weakness? In stock form, the 2JZ engine can hold a ton of power especially for a 3 liter inline 6, but there are some areas a weakness. In this video I’ll explain the 2JZ’ engine's weak parts and what you can do to make this engine truly bullet proof. This will be another installment of 2JZ explained.

Did I overlook any potential weak part of the 2JZ? Bonus points for how many times I said “at this power level”.

This video was hilarious.
NO motor is bullet proof.
ALL motors have a weakness at some point, thats SO obvious.
Just some are stronger than others from the factory.
Yes the 2JZ block can support 2k hp with mods which makes it one of the greatest inline 6 blocks ever made to date.
And yes some have done 1300 crank hp on stock bottom end and have done SEVERAL runs on the strip and SEVERAL dyno runs and the motor held together. But yes at 1300 crank hp, its a ticking time bomb but what other motor can push 1300 crank hp SEVERAL times without poping ???

And for you BMW Zupra B58 fan boys, don't start your shit with the B58 being superior than the 2JZ because its NOT ... YET. Until someone takes that B58 block and pushes over 2k crank hp, its not a 2JZ block.

Having mine “overbuilt” as we speak. Aiming for 800 at the wheels. Built head, built block, 6466 DBB turbo and complete fuel, dual pumps, clutch and ProEfi. Rather be safe then sorry.

That's true...even the best...has its weaknesses.

Pay to play, that's it. Being building alot of those and 1jz too. It's not that complicated and most customers aim for 600-700. Few has moved on to 4 figures and indeed u want to rebuild the engine, u can run OEM stuff but what the point of doing all that work to risk blowing it up and doing it again? Cut ur losses and do it right. Peace

Would you have to do anything with the drive train at around 700hp?

The part about the intake manifold is complete fallacy. It has been proven time and time again, the stock manifold will flow efficiently passed 1000hp. Ffim are for looks and huge power thats it. Save the space and stay stock intake

Going to do my single turbo conversion next week, kinda scared to push more than 600+ since all my internals are stock..

By the way, keep uploading you are making quality content 👌🏼( also want to hear fly bys of your supra)

WRONG again
The 1JZ "head" was designed by Yamaha, then Toyota took the Yamaha designed head and revised and improved it & put on the 2JZ motor.
This is WHY the 1JZ "head" shows Yamaha on it because Yamaha designed it and wanted their credit. Do you see the Yamaha stamp on the 2JZ .... NO ....

Those are not weak points 🤣😂 toyota builds it with only 280hp where you won't find any problem, those are your weak points of not having enough money to just go buy a bugatti
