One funny thing for me was when I decided to lose 20lbs a few years ago it began to happen when I stopped focusing on losing weight as such and began focusing on getting really fit, eating healthy most of the time and going out and enjoying my life and not worrying so much about my weight. So many people commented "Oh you are looking great, what is the secrete diet?" "What workouts are your doing?" ... guys it's no secrete ... I'm doing the types of exercise I love and enjoy (running, dance, walking) and i'm making sure I eat enough to fuel my body!

this makes a lot of sense. It took me a year to go from 181 lbs to 143 lbs. Goal reached, then what? I ignored exercising, ate what I want, now I learned that i DO NOT NEED A GOAL. I NEED TO BE HEALTHY. I don't care if it will take me 5-6 years to be on my healthy weight range. It is not "Weight Goals"/"Lose Weight in xxx months/years" it is BEING/CHOOSING to be HEALTHY..

Makes absolute sense! It is not only about the life you want but about the person you have to become to live that kind of life.
You cant be helathy or fit without good habits. You cant get rich if you dont behave like someone that builds richness.

This makes so much sense. And it's a much more self-compassionate approach, too. Thank you for this.

This is the smartest advice i've gotten. My cup goals now are 1. learning new healthy recipes 2. being a better athlete (i play handball in college)
Your channel has become my emergency place, whenever i feel unmotivated for failing so much, you help me start again with positive energy. Thank you so much

Yes!!! As a bodybuilder I can say this is 100% spot on. That is why when lifting you always: Write down your weight/reps, take weekly progress photos, weight yourself, and take measurements. I have found that when you think you are not making progress one out of all these metrics always changes. So to add to the stacking habits part, its important to incorporate methods of being able to capture proof that you are in someway stacking the next cup. For me taking all these different measurements gives me proof and keeps me motivated.

OMG. I used to watch you all the time like a year ago and then I forgot about you.
Lately I have been feeling more in control of my life then I ever have. Also I have been finding so much peace and security in my daily habits.
In the past week I keep thinking "Wow! This habit stacking IS a lot of work because you have to constantly push your self a little farther (I have A LOT of goals though.) but it is SO worth it - I would not live any other way.
I sort of knew that the term "Habit Stacking." Was not my own but I could not remember where I learned it.
Then, today I came across one of your videos for the first time in a long time and i was like OMG THATS RIGHT!
My life is SO much better now because of you. Furthermore, I have confidence that it will continue to get better - because you have introduced me to the most logical and sustainable self improvement system ever.
THANK YOU! XOXOXOX

This is spot on! I've been wanting to lose weight for ages, but I kept focusing on the end goal and imagined being thin and fitting into small clothes, etc. but most days it just depressed me and made me feel even farther from where I wanted to be. Then once I shifted my focus from "being thin" to "being healthy" it helped me think of my goal as not some far off thing, but a way of life because being healthy is about the little things you do every day, like eating right and doing exercise. These things can be thought of as ends in and of themselves, and it's great if losing weight tends to come as a part of that package like a positive side effect. (I've lost about 25 pounds since BTW. ;))

I totally agree, my experience is that I must get rid of our addiction to sugars and processed foods, and not "kill myself" on a counting calories diet

This logic makes so much better sense.  I have spoke it but never can find consistency to help with my goals.  But your 3 second video about just yelling letting it out that you don't want to do the very thing(i.e. exercise) to get to my goal. Helps me get over it..and kick butt.  I have put plan to act and saw a dietician and I am so over being sick of tired of being sick and tired.  Thank you for your encouraging words and videos.  Heck I don't read a fitness book for ten minutes.  I just watch one of your videos as soon as I get up.  It puts me in a good head space to begin my day.

I always use tiny habits especially for schoolwork. For example: dividing the number of pages in a book according to when I have to finish it, or writing 100 words a day for 10 days until I finish a paper!

This is so true! The only goal achievements that stuck were the ones with a process that I enjoyed.

Like eating healthy, easy-to-make food with tasty flavor combinations

This was the best video I´ve seen explaining this way of thinking, by going more into detail. It is often mentioned by other motivational speakers, but your way of explaining it was GOLDEN! Very clear! PS: I suspect there are secret ways to make a youtube channel big/ to get many views. By the quality of your video, you should get many more, so try to find the secret ways. I don´t know them myself, but if Google have it, I guess Youtube has it as well. I hope your channel gets big!

Hi! your vision about goal setting is great. Your explanation really makes sense. I'm so happy I came accross your channel. At the beginning of this year, I decided to save 1000 euros to pay for my driving license (Here in Paris, FRANCE, it's very expensive to learn to drive) . And it was very difficult at first. I set monthly goals from January to July 1st but the first three months didn't work out as I wanted to.So i decided to make a budget with a cash enveloppe system and allocate savings as an expense. And it wokred! I was like each week, you have to keep that amount of money and it was fun to see my savings account growing meanwhile.I was more enthusiactic week after week because I was making progress towards that final line, it was like a marathon for me.PS: Please excuse my bad English if I made some mistakes.
