The funny thing about this comment section was that the American and other English speaking people are talking shit about the American sumo wrestler, while the Japanese comments are complimenting the American sumo wrestler and are just happy with the cultural exchange.

Sumo is such an amazing and brutally underrated sport. I wish it was bigger all over the world and not only in Japan.

I like how the american guy was wearing pants but ended up flashing more than a real sumo wrestler would

People need to realise this is amateur level Sumo wrestling and that both of them are amateurs. There is no professional Sumo outside of Japan and that the "world championship Sumo tournament" is roughly equal in quality to the 7th and lowest level of Sumo in Japan. Sumo wrestling is so intrinsically linked with Shinto ritual and Japanese tradition that it can't be easily transplanted out of Japan. It's like putting a traditional Japanese Minka house in the middle of New York.

Thank you Japan for your kind words. I'd like to sincerely apologize to the Japanese people for some of the Americans who aren't respectful to Japanese culture while visiting.

Sumo is a martial art. It is no different in technique than judo or else. I love sumo and respect it. American sumo allows me to compete at my height and weight. I will never be a champion, but I love the sport and the Americans I Sumo against love it with passion

I'm a Japanese person who has never played sumo.
First, try imitating their crouching posture before the game starts.
That alone should give you an idea of how difficult it is.
Looking at the flexibility of this person's hip joints, the stability of his legs and hips in a crouched position, and his ability to keep his upper body upright in a crouched position, I think he must have put in a lot of effort.
As with any profession or sport, the movements of masters may seem easy.
What looks simple may actually take amazing skill, time, and effort to create.

The American guy isn't that bad, seems he just got excited and rushed in. It's no wonder Japanese are better at sumo, they literally live and breathe their training. They don't do it as a side hobby, they go and live in a stable and train daily for years.

Ser Sumo es un arte y debe ser respetado, muchos creen que solo basta con estae gordos y empujar, pero esto va más allá.

In America we’re just fat, unless you’re a “strong man” In Japan they are surprisingly low body fat and high muscle.
