The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning is awesome! Also her Highlander Series and how she merges these two worlds and characters in the later books. She's a genius!

Come on...if you don't have enough ambition to author a series yourself, and instead choose the rise the coattails of someone else, the last you could do it get the antagonist's name correct.
