So, the beginning is literally the sound of space. Tuomas asked NASA to use "space sounds" for the album. NASA does this by assigning different elements like oxygen, hydrogen, etc sounds, and they vary in frequency. They also take radio waves from spacecraft and convert them to sound waves. It's literally the sound of space if there was one.
