2015 - Élan

"Meet me where the cliff greets the sea"
"Free fall awaits the brave"
"Write the lyric for the song only you can understand"

2020 - How's the Heart

"We met where the cliff greets the sea
Shared a story, took the leap
Rose up rooted, hid a note
You know where
You`ve been there"

OH NIGHTWISH YOU DID IT

I'm gonna get all sappy and sobby here but frick it.

I'm one of the too many suffering from depression, and a frequent struggle of finding "a point" of doing basic essential things to keep my life going.

This song brings me to tears. It's not only beautiful, but it reminds me of the people who are always there to pick me up. The ones who care. Good friends, great family and wonderful partner.

This track gives me strength in a time when I need it. And I hope it can do the same for others too. You don't need to do it alone.

Thank you, Floor, Tuomas, Marco, Emppu, Troy and Kai. I needed this.

My favorite song on this album. Together with noise. And music. And pan. And shoemaker. Ah hell, the entire album is absolute ear candy!

I grew up on old school metal, 80's Metallica, Sabbath, Pantera etc. Nightwish were the first band to widen my taste and bring me to amazing bands like Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation etc. So it's not surprising that Nightwish continue to grow and surprise me. Phenomenal album, Kai's drumming off the hook, lost track of how many singing styles Floor performed perfectly. 10/10! What a band!

Nice story: the second verse of this song is actually written by Tuomas for Floor, describing her experience of meeting the love of her life (her hasband) and having her daughter ( a child of light). Really beautiful.

I've listened to this many times and each time I notice another little thing about it that I love. It really feels like Nightwish is reaching out to anyone who is going through a hard time, saying, "We're here, you're not alone. You'll be okay. There's hope." I've suffered from depression, anxiety, ADHD, and panic attacks and had suicidal thoughts for several years, and this song feels like a gentle embrace and a reminder that there are people who care, that my illnesses can be beaten. "Burn the rope and dance some more/Dull the blade and dance some more, " they are saying, don't give up, don't end your life, we're here and we care, keep going. It gets better. Thank you Tuomas, Marko, Emppu, Troy, Kai, and Floor for this beautiful song and message. You guys are bringing hope in a dark time. We love you!

Last time I cried was 2 years ago when my mother passed away, and now listening to this song. So emotional, so deep, so powerful, yet so simple. Sometimes all we need to do is ask: "How's the heart?".

This song hit hard...

Here I sit, just another John Doe.
...having been diagnosed with testicle cancer 2 weeks ago.
...having been operated on 10 days ago.
...having been told I need chemotherapy 6 days ago.
...had a haircut yesterday. 60cm to cleanly shaven bald, but the hair is donated and will go to someone who lost his hair to cancer and has a hard time dealing with the fact. I shook it on many concerts, now it is needed by someone else.

To me the song speaks: show some more empathy. Make the world a better place.

Should anyone still read: don´t worry. I have a ~95% chance of complete recovery.

And should anyone consider loosing 25cm or more of hair: donate it. Make the world a better place for someone in need.

Here I sit, just another John Doe, asking myself if I have the ball to click "send"...

"How`s the heart
underneath the silence?"... that, in a planetary quarantine. I´m speechless. Nightwish is a most amazing band in the UNIVERSE!

_Sorrow hides well in your shell_
_A fellow man with hurt to spare_
_Dear one, _
_Here I am to share the fear_
_An act of kindness_
_Without an amen_
_How's the heart underneath the silence?_

_How's the one drowning in the mire?_
_Let us sound a human paean_

_Come in, the fire's warm_
_Burn the rope and dance some more_

That got to me,
I've been battling depression for YEARS and I am no stranger to the feeling of not wanting to see the light of another day. But because of a few people in my life, they inspired me to keep going.
I love the music that Nightwish brings, when they say "music speaks to you" it is true, though not all of the music you hear speaks to you directly, which is why Nightwish is one of the VERY few artists I have a passion for.
Thank you Nightwish, that your music helps me take my mind off of these terrible thoughts and wanting to listen to more.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

At first, for me, it was just a typical Nightwish's radio-friendly song. But there is something in the lyrics that speaks to me as i listnen to it over and over. That one simple message, the thing we often forget on a daily basis: kindness. How beautifl this world would be if every single person in the world could care for another? It's just a simple question - "How's the heart?", but this simple question could be all someone may need.

Take care of your heart, Marko. Sad, but respect for your decision. Take care. Nothing but love.

I have had to deal with a lot of depression and crushing anxiety. Part of why I'm on disability, a "gift" from insomnia and chronic illness. It fluctuates, some days can be very dark, some are merely grey. But Tuomas has put the color back for me. Nightwish sparkles my scenery, tucks me in under the blue. They fend off the swinging pendulum, dull the blade and burn the rope. It's like Tuomas has been rummaging around in my head, finding things that need to be dragged out and whacked hard with a shovel.

Nightwish was a surprise discovery for me. Somehow in the late 90's I was watching a show called "The Snowman" (likely because my first born was in 1996). I heard the song "Walking in the Air" (don't even know which recording) and fell in love with the song. Later I decided to look it up and of all places I found it listed on a Nightwish album called "Oceanborn". I went to my local music store and had to order the album - it shipped from overseas - and finally arrived a few weeks later. As a progressive / classic rock fan and a professional (back then) grade trombonist I already had a wide musical pallet. This exposed me to something I had never heard - I loved it - and even now I'm waiting for the latest album to ship. I like all lineups of the band and so far I'm grateful they are still making music. :-)

What I love most about this album is how warm, empathetic and hopeful it is. It feels like the old magic and the new style. Much as I like 'Noise' I'm glad it was the outlier. This album was the one we need in these dark days of plague, injustice and madness.
