Utilising old weapons with modern upgrades is actually a valid idea. I approve.

People tend to forget, Soviet tanks were the first to be equipped with infra-red.

Russian are intelligent and innovative and are able to modify its Soviet era weapons to increase the quantity and quality available for its army to fight the warmonger NATO which are on the losing side.

the russians really are smart, as someone who's only able to look from the outside in but with all of the public information out there it seems to me that the russians know what they're doing, but i kid you not most people in my country still believe russia has/is running out of everything and the war will be over soon, i feel so out of place in my own country surrounded by masses of propogandised people and let me make it very clear they aren't bad people (some are) they just dont have a clue about whats really been happening as most of them dont know what the Minsk agreements were about or what Donbass is

The Soviets were military geniuses. As were their engineers with Soviet military hardware.

Provided it still works, makes sense to marry firepower with updated targeting.

Make sense for Russia. As it already has a stockpile of it and corresponding rounds. If successful, it can offer such services to other countries who will also want to have dedicated anti-drone defense.

The shilka is a dead set beast! The only issue is when the barrels overheat and a runaway fire chain results

the main reason Shilka was used in Syria so much for fire support was due to the fact its guns could elevate high enough to target 2/3rd floor shooters, which most soviet AFVs could not.
Its high ROF also made it good for shredding fast moving technicals which where the primary ground meaneuvre weapon of that conflict. I am am honestly kind surprised that Russia hasn't flooded the rear areas with the quad 14.5mm KPV or ZPU-4 mounts which would be excellent for both fire support, infantry and drone suppression.
