I always thought the computer read his mind and he just said whatever he thought

In my opinion, Stephen Hawking losing his movement is like Beethoven losing his hearing. It's a tragedy that brought a brilliant mind closer to his passion. RIP

Who else was really disappointed that it wasn't a mind reading computer than spoke his thoughts :(

"Today we look at the machine behind physicist Stephen Hawking"

Isn't it in front of him?

Here in the U.K. we had 3 minutes of silence to commemorate his passing. But somehow that didn’t seem right to me. So although we of course honoured the silence, we also went out into the countryside at night and looked up into the sky, admiring the galactic horizon. That felt more appropriate for the dearly missed Professor.

When I was little I used to think it was a machine that could read his mind.
Anyways R.I.P Stephen :(

I'm happy to see him smile. Pictures made me feel he may feel bad but we wouldn't know. I hope he and others in his case can have more help from tech. They deserve it.

As Carl Sagan put it, when you read a book, the author is actually talking to you (in your mind) across space and time. So whenever I will read Hawking's books, he will be actually talking to me in my mind or in each and every readers' mind. So he is really not gone. Only his body has.
