Im pretty competent on installing these things but was curious enough to look at yours. For anyone reading this who is not sure about installing a car radio, this is one of of the best instructionals I have come across. Plain talk without too much "jargon" and excellent teaching skills WELL DONE!!!

Thank you so much!! I was sold the wrong harness for my honda civic, and out of frustration I randomly decided that I had innate knowledge of wiring harnesses and lopped off the factory harness to hard wire the after market harness onto it. After 3 hours of fiddling and soldering the wrong wires together, I gave up and closed up the garage and hopped on youtube to find this video. The next morning I ran to the nearest hardware store, and got everything wired and setup in an hour. 10/10 would recommend everybody watch this video. Even if you're not wiring a stereo. Like if you're on the toilet and plan on staring at a wall mindlessly for the next 2 hours, i'd recommend you watch this video while you're doing that.

This is absolutely brilliant instructional. Not only do you show how to do something you show why you do something.

You, Sir, are a STAR!! Took out the original factory-fitted radio and was baffled by the number of wires that such a simple piece of kit had. Looked like hundreds of white wires into four different connecter are they all for?
Watched your beautifully made video and it all became crystal clear.
Made the impossible EASY!
Many many thanks.

If you do not own a light tester like he uses to find the constant 12v, and accessory 12v then you can use a volt meter on continuity function and it will make a sound when it completes a circuit. Just connect the red (+) of the voltmeter to the wire, and the black (-) probe to a ground like he did in the video.

This really is a top notch explanation of what each wire is and will still be valuable even when using a harness just to know how things function. No other video has come close to yours in covering this. I can't find the video that details out the steering wheel controls. Did you decide not to make one? If so, please reconsider making one with the same level of detail and explanation you did with this one. Thanks in advance.

6 years of positive comments & no wonder.. This was an immediate like button slap for me, thanks for uploading and explaining everything so well ! There was no youtube back in 1987 when i first attempted to install a car radio so i managed to install a nice electronic fire place where my original AM radio used to sit in the dash..
