Welcome back to Racecars Universe and to Episode 2 of my Tour of the Italian Car Museums.

Today we're in Maranello, a small town near Modena, Italy known to many for its distinctive color theme and the historical importance it holds. Home of the most sought-after and racing-oriented Automotive brand in the world. FERRARI.
As we left off from the Alfa Romeo Museum in the 1st Episode, we continue on the chronological timeline to see how the course of events sparked new beginnings and innovation.

Let's start with Enzo Ferrari's involvement with Alfa Romeo which began in the 1920s, when he led their racing team and established Scuderia Ferrari within the company. Under his leadership, Scuderia Ferrari saw significant success in Motorsport. Conflicts arose over management and autonomy, leading to his departure from Alfa Romeo in 1939.
Bound by a non-compete agreement, Enzo couldn't use his name in racing for 4 years.
At the end of this period, in 1947 he officially founded Ferrari, producing both race cars and road going models. Ferrari also maintained a fierce rivalry with Alfa Romeo, notably in Formula 1.

Enzo's departure from Alfa marked the beginning of an iconic automotive legacy that persists to this day, embodying excellence, performance, and innovation. In his own words: "the future is always in the hands of those who know how to envision it".
The ethos and achievements of Ferrari as a manufacturer and racing team area true testament to the brand philosophy and core beliefs that makes these cars so special.

For the next part of my trip, we're now moving to another famous Manufacturer. Yep you guessed it....Lamborghini.
As many of you know now thanks to last year's movie release, Ferruccio Lamborghini approached Enzo proposing a great partnership, only to be told off and to keep making tractors instead. The dismissal fuelled Lamborghini's determination, pushing him into crafting his own line of top-tier sports cars as a response to Ferrari's insult.

A huge thanks goes to my father for coming along and for his precious knowledge & Automotive insights.

The cars are obviously stunning, but what a surprisingly disappointing building this Museum is in. From Ferrari, who print money and are somehow synonymous with having style, class and design. This 'Ferrari Museum' has all the panache of a suburban middle school cafeteria. My local BMW dealer has a more impressive showroom.
