Owning the Pin - Race 6 - Volvo Cork Week 2024

The Bottom Up Boats crew on board J109 Going To Red approached the starting line of Race 6 of Volvo Cork Week 2024 on port take with just over a minute to go before the start.

A perfectly timed take onto starboard allowed them to luff the First 36.7 First light before timing it almost perfectly to put the bow down and accelerate towards the Pin end of the line. With breeze shifting left Going To Red owned the pin end of the line, quickly spitting First Light out to the right hand side of the course.

It was then a drag race to the left hand edge of the course with GTR slowly grinding out to windward, taking the lead on the first beat of Race 6.
