Took a 580 mile (round trip) road trip over the weekend in a CCS based EV. My wife went in to freakout mode when it took 3 stops to get to an open and working CCS fast charger. She went from wanting to only drive EVs to swearing to never roadtripping in one ever again. During our entire trip along the Northeast corridor (I-95) we past up numerous Tesla Supercharger stations with open stalls.

GM scrapping Ultium before it's even out shows how hard this is going be, but also how much they are learning.

I like how when Ford and GM say EVs won’t reach cost parity with ICE vehicles before 2030, implying that’s true of the entire industry when Tesla is already cost competitive with ICE vehicles.

GM is always “doing something” without ever doing something!

I thought GM was all in on the Ultium platform. However, after watching the Munro teardown, I wouldn't buy an Ultium battery vehicle with someone else's money.

Prediction - they [GM] will switch to Tesla connector in 2026.. just so they would have a reliable network. Electrify America is just that horrible and expensive.

NACS should be the standard, so hopefully it does replace CCS. The sooner the better, for everyone. Should be a global standard, but that's a bit of a long shot. Just a bit.

2030 before GM BEVs become profitable? I said years ago GM was screwed.😮

So the new GM architecture will include the Tesla NACS charge port?

CharIN has a fair bit of money from government grants and manufactures and not much else to do with it but pay lobbyists.

I will never buy another new vehicle. I have been driving the same pickup I bought new in 2000 and with proper maintenance, it has 280000 miles on it the only thing major was 1 trans rebuild at $2500.

GM can't make Ultium in volume and they are now admitting it was a heavy, costly POS system and are now going to a new architecture. What a joke. As a former long term fan of GM, I've given up rooting for them. They are incompetent on too many levels to count. For as long as I can remember, it's always been the case that the NEXT (unavailable) product will be great because the available products are mediocre.

AM radios are accessible by any car with access to the web. Ie Tesla, car play, etc. many many many AM stations are live streamed. Mostly for free. ( if you can tolerate the commercials)

Mary "BS" Barra now backtracking on her promise to deliver a $30K Equinox EV. I'm not even in the industry and I could have predicted that 5 years ago! Tesla and Chinese automakers are reaching price parity with their EVs and Tesla is doing it profitably!

Yes, if new DC FAST chargers want to survive, they will have to add the NACS charging connector, or they will lose out on the largest EV market in North America. New EV vehicles like Dodge Chrysler and Ram need to place the connector where Tesla does or the front passenger. Rivian will really loose sales to Tesla and Ford is they do not switch to the NACS connector.

I saw my first Cadillac Lyriq in the wild yesterday. I'm guessing they're all over the place in Detroit, but they're not common elsewhere. EDIT: Spotted in Atlanta area. Haven't seen in Denver area yet.
