Right now I'm intentionally not dating because I feel like I've been conditioned to idolize relationships. For now I just need to grow in my relationship with God. Sometimes that's hard considering I've just turned 21, but my relationship with Him is more important than where I thought I'd be at this point in my life.

Don't date just because you're lonely. Wait for God to bring the right man. You can always run to God in Your loneliness. It is better to be single and lonely, than married and miserable.

I was always told that if you run as hard and as fast as you can after Jesus, if you see someone keeping up with you, introduce yourself. I think that's an incredible philosophy, and that's what we're teaching our kids.

Don't date anyone simply for the sake of dating them. Or because your scared of being single. I personally would rather wait (somewhat patiently) in singleness on Gods perfect timing. Then to date someone for the heck of it. To give a piece of my heart to someone it doesn't belong to, and end up with a broken heart when the relationship ends bc he isn't the guy for you. I fully believe in dating with purpose and intention. And in today's world purposeful and intentional dating is near extinction. But I know it's worth the wait. Emotional Purity is something I strive for, just as much as physical purity. Im learning to embrace my singleness, and leave fear of being "forever alone" at Gods feet.

Also another reason would be because everyone around you is telling you to get married. All my family keeps telling me that I'm starting to get too old and that I need to hurry up and get married if I ever want to have a family. My response always is that I know God has a perfect woman for that will compliment my every weakness and vice versa. God's timing is always better than ours. Thank you Jamie, you are an awesome woman of God.

Thanks for posting this Jamie Grace. The day after I seen this, my 12 year old daughter told me that she feels like she's two people--especially at school--because she's afraid of peoples reaction if she is her real self. I showed her this video because I think it applies to relationships in general. If people can't accept your awesome self the way they are, then they're not the ones that need to be in your life!

Okay I think that God's purpose for us wasn't to date like a bunch of people but to wait for God's timing to send someone to us and God will send the right guy when we least expect it and also we should be focused on chasing Jesus and loving him because that's where true love come from :)

Great reasons! I have one more: you also shouldn't date to make anyone jealous. It's a stupid idea. All of these reasons boil down to one concept: using someone else to get something you want. Whether it's validation, acceptance, "experience" or distraction from pain, it's just a horrible idea. In fact, it's cruel. What of the other person? They might genuinely like you, and you could hurt them very, very deeply. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned but I believe relationships are supposed to be loving and intentional. If you aren't ready for commitment, honey, respect others enough not to advertise what you can't deliver. You don't need a bf/gf to be whole. Be honest with yourself and others. (Honesty tempered by love and patience) That's what Jesus would want.

Jamie you're so kind! You are a very smart young lady. My favorite song for young ladies is your White Boots song. I told my young daughter that it's the national anthem for girls especially! I told her that I wanted her to listen to White Boots until she memorizes it. Jamie keep up the great work! I know you will never give up on your mission to help and encourage the youth. There is a mission that a couple of cool women are working on. It's called, No Wedding No Womb- C.K & B.B. It's to help girls and women to save their selves for marriage.
