Shooting a Simple 40 Pound PVC Pistol Crossbow

It's a neat little crossbow but it does have its drawbacks. It's only 40 pounds, which is pretty low for crossbows and it has the fps to match. It may be weaker but it is still a fun little crossbow for shooting at boxes. I use it for shooting targets in my office when I'm bored.

Ive always wanted to make a crossbow but the big problem I have found is when it comes to building a solid reliable prod with a descent poundage. I wonder whether it would be possible to build a descent prod from PVC pipe for a regular sized crossbow?
If you ever get bored making your PVC bows I would love to see you tackle such a task. If there's anyone up to successfully meeting such a challenge I believe it would be you.

Just built a pvc long bow Xbow(80pnd) and pvc horse bow Xbow(60pnd) enlarged version of this design. The horse bow desgin is very effective. The long bows trigger mechinism is to tight because its too strong, it works but you end up with bad shit mate!! backyarder ...light leaf spings do a mad job for more pounds to...but way more work

I attached the bow with some jute twine. You could build a larger version. I would just mount something like the 80 pound longbow on it rather completely flattening the pipe like this one.

Hey nick I made your crossbow and I loved it but I did have some proablems like if I was using the crossbow for a long time the bow part would slowly slip off the front to stop this I made a coper strip that I screwed to the bottom and bent up to stop the slipping. I was just wondering what you thought of this fix and if you had that proablem.

I'm sorry, I went to your website but there doesn't seem to be a tutorial. I love this design! I am trying to make something similar that draws at 35 lbs with a 12 inch draw length. Do you have any advice on what to use for prods?

the trigger design is pretty smart, but i've just made one and well... when i aim down or upwards, the bolt slides out of the groove. any ideas on making a captive bolt holder to keep the bolt in place

oh yeah and the long bow is massive =no good. The horse bow stock is build out of 900x70x35 mm pine with a draw length of 530 mm. I round filed the stock to mound the bow . I also bent a thin piece of aluinium and screwed it on to hold the bolts/arrows
