Why are more of the largest US companies worried about AI? | Inside Story

More than half of the top 500 companies in the United States now see Artificial Intelligence as posing potential risk.
That is a five-fold increase in just two years, according to a new survey.
And some believe the technology could become a threat to their businesses.
So what is driving these fears?

The answer is pretty straightforward. AI represents an opportunity to dramatically reduce their white collar labor force and drive profits. Surprisingly in the future the workers with the best employment are going to be skilled laborers who can't be replaced by robots and AI.

Machine learning is a more accurate description of what AI is now.

Automation. It's really about automation. A lot of use cases now termed AI are really just basic IT automation. Eg. uses in industry is not about AI, it is about using technology to automate. They call this AI but really it's just software.
