Everyone is talking about Sumo and how sad it is, it is, but it hits even harder with the Connor's led light turning red..

The reason Hank kills himself in this ending (the ending where you choose to live as a robot for Connor) is because this Connor is just that, a robot. No feelings, no remorse, not a care in the world except for his mission. Hank agonizes over the question of “can robots feel” and on this path Connor proves to Hank that robots aren’t capable of feeling remorse or guilt over their actions. Hank then loses control and kills himself knowing that the robot who killed his child didn’t feel a thing when or after it happened. This is why Hank eventually comes to care for you when you become a deviant, on that path, Connor proves to Hank that they can feel and Hank finds solace in the fact that the robot responsible for his child’s death may have felt guilt or remorse over what happened. Simply put, hope that robots can feel guilt over their actions is the only thing keeping him alive.
