The Karazhan Crypt is a secret area that is blocked off but has A LOT of secrets hidden inside.

About 15 years ago I was a GM on a private server. I populated this area with custom made mobs and bosses and created custom quests and items required to open the doors, and it came out much better than a lot of the normal raids that the game had. The Upside-down Sinners area had a custom undead Leviathan, and you would need underwater breathing to be able to handle the fight. It was a blast for the players.

I remember some time ago (perhaps during Burning Crusade), you could actually enter this area as a ghost. I really wish Blizzard would have reused this as the crypt for Legion, its just so cool!

There's a high probability the crypt of Karazhan will be the major setting for 2 of the Artifact quests in LEGION - the two-handed Unholy DK Sword Apocalypse and Affliction WLs Deadwind Harvester. Blizzard stated in the respective articles of "Artifact Reveal" that both weapons will be reclaimed from the Dark Riders of Karazhan (the remaining orcish Death Knights on Azeroth of the 2nd war), which use the deep catacombs of Karazhan as their base of operations.

I remember using ALT F4 as a way to bug my char behind the portcullis back in TBC. While logging in, pressing forward right in front of it, this moved my char behind the entrance. I seriously got the creeps walking through this sinkhole back then, with the background music and everything^^

This was originally slated to be part of the Karazhan raid, but it was thought too sinister for a "T" rated game, thus it was left out of the final design. The cavern of upside down sinners is actually a reference to Big Trouble in Little China, like the six demon bag.

Az, I have a feeling the "upside-down sinners" is a nod to the 80s movie Big Trouble in Little China. where the movie refers to the Chinese having multiple realities of some sort of hell. One being "hell of the upside-down sinners". I'm thinking this because of an old trinket from vanilla called "six-demon bag" which even in the tool tip had a direct quote from the movie.

you got a warning from blizzard for entering the zone above stratholm by moving through invisible walls and stuff (exploiting the game). and the first thing you do is make a video where you exploit another zone you are not supposed to get. I don't think thats the best idea ever mate.

So much nostalgia in watching this. I remember going down there a number of ways with friends and alone, as well as other hidden/unfinished spaces. Thanks from 2021 :)
