As someone of Middle Eastern/Cypriot/Iberian/Irish heritage from Wales🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
The sami are one of the countless uralic peoples in Europe.
The uralic peoples Are the Native to
north/centrel and Eastern Europe
There pre slavic/pre germanic peoples native to north/east/centrel Europe and the balkans there genetically related to centrel/est asians, native siberians, the inuit and native americans.
Western Europe was homed to pre celtic western European Gaelic, Gaulish and Britanic peoples as well as other pre germanic peoples who were black and related to the Black moors(natives of Iberia) as well as some relations to Semetic and Latin peoples

We are nordic mix of siberians and europeans born 4000-3000 years ago to make it simple. Yakutia Lnba east siberians mixed with white people here in west. The east siberian yakutia Lnba culture tribes probably followed seimaturbino tradesmen to west. Look for nenets and nganasan they are related to us. Their tribes just did not mix to whites so much as they stopped in west siberia

They are Indigenous Eurasian. They travel from the Urals to Northern Europe and back on a regular basis. Yellow and Blue and White makes Neon Green, the color of the Dancing Spirits in the Sapmi Sky. Fits.

As I understand it …
Everybody in Europe has some indigenous Western Hunter Gatherer dna/roots. The 2 main Saami maternal lines U5b1b1 and V are European as is the paternal line I1.
As these hunters from the Iberian refugia migrated up North after the ice receded, in Karelia they mixed with Eastern Hunter Gatherers, whose refugia during the Ice Age was South Ukraine, was it?
Eastern Hunter Gatherers had a hefty load of Ancient North Eurasian dna, which is shared with Amerinds. Something which Indo-Europeans also carried, but with lesser amount.

Ancient peoples were far more mobile than people think and using skin boats up in the Arctic seas at certain time of the year, around 4000 years ago, trading and joint whale hunting with other Arctic (Siberian) groups was carried out. As trading partners often married, so it was with those early ancestors, resulting in a mixed population.

We do not know what language was spoken at first, but with the arrival of Uralic population from the East around 3000 years ago, who then mixed with the local hunters, the pre-Saami shifted their language to Uralic. Much like how early Europeans shifted to Indo-European language during the Bronze Age invasions.

Uralic Y-dna male line N, also prevalent in the Baltics does not carry the amount of Siberian dna as Finns do due to Saami admixture.
Anything to add? Corrections?

Those people as "migrant" as any other Europeans. Eurasian continent had plenty of diverse ethno-linguistic groups until Indo-Europeans had discovered wheel and chariot :)

Well as far as i remember, after world war 2 many tribal people across Europe were given choices, and they were the only one's to not sign off.

Asian is a geographical term not a “race”. They are distant related to all 1st nations/indigenous Americans as they migrated from the same place in Siberia Asia during the Last Ice Age. The Sámi is an ancient people. We’re talking thousands of years. They are also related to the Finns and Estonians which of whom are not indigenous as they are the result of Southern Sámi tribes intermixing with later incoming peoples and cultures. The Sámi did not except for the 1st Europeans (Western Hunter Gatherers) who where black with blue eyes from the Middle East. Does that make them Asian as well? No. By that note then all Europeans should be considered black and Middle Eastern (cradle of all white people), as that’s where they came from and can trace their ancestry on their paternal side proven by linguistic, DNA and archaeological evidence.

They are not Asian, Sami only have about 20% proto Uralic ancestry, I’m not entirely sure how Asian that makes them, but proto Uralic people were probably somewhere in between WSHG and proto Dene-Yenesian, so that’s about 55% west Eurasian 45% east Eurasian, so that should only make them about 9% more Asian than your average European, though it might be a bit more because I think they lack an ANF component.

I just finished the book The End of Drum-Time by Hanna Pylvainen. These people were mentioned in it and I was curious about them.

Yellow Blue and White gets you Bright Green like what their culture calls Dancing Spirits in the Sky, Aurora Borealis.
