First time I saw my rescue budgie doing this crop adjustment, I nearly had a heart attack. By devolish coincidence it was also the day my grandpa died, so on the one hand we were sad he had died (very peacefully in his sleep, aged 92) and on the other we were mortified Iris was really sick. Thankfully she stopped doing it when she got distracted by a toy, I found a video (Denny's probably) which explained it, and crisis was avoided, so thanks for making this info available, it really helps! On a funnier note, when I notice my budgies doing the "I'm boiling-hot" wing thing I prepare them a bath, always expecting them to dive in it head first, but they usually ignore it and prefer to cool off out of the water. Crazy birds.
