The easiest way to fix this issue is too crank up the radio.

Agree with Deb, guys, please demonstrate the sound caused by the loose heat shield. It would help those of us with what appears to be a similar problem to properly diagnose before jumping into the repair

Mechanics would say 550 for parts and labour

THIS is what I needed to know. Thank you so much. My mechanic I use, diagnosed the problem but also told me there wasn't a thing they could do to stop the rattling. What a dumb-ass. I swear.

How about letting us hear the sound while the engine is running? It would be helpful.

Great video and tip. Just used this trick to fix a rattle on my FJ. Thank you!

Thanks a bunch. Just hope this fixes my issue and that i dont have lifters or rockers to replace!

That looks like some heads-up play to me, even though it might create some air-flow issue (as noted below).

this gets rid of the noise, but strapping it so that the main portion of the heat shield is in direct contact with the manifold defeats the purpose of it. Bring back into play the damage the excess heat can do. They need an air gap between them.

Mine tore off and white powder was inside. (03 Trailblazer) What's the material? Asbestos?

To the creator, I would've liked to actually hear the noise it makes so that I can compare

I noticed a rattle sound coming from my cover. When I put pressure on the cover the sound goes away. I tried tightening the two top bolts on it but that didn’t do anything.

Well, it would be helpful to hear the rattling noise in order to know whether the viewer has the same problem !

One of these days, they are going to make a phillips head for hose clamps.

Hi I have a 2000 Tdi jetta and I'm wondering where exactly this exhaust manifold heat shield goes in the car.

Even simpler would be those metal zip ties, thanks for the idea!

Best fix for old cars is get an electric saw or
Dremel with a metal cutting bit and remove them all together 😃

"use a flatblade screwdriver" HARD STOP! Only use a flatblade screwdriver to remove a screw you are throwing away. A nut driver or socket are the appropriate tools for a hose clamp.

stick some tin foil in there, crumpled up and call it done. many heat shields are flat and hose clamps wont fit and wont do anything.
