Onyx Vesper Hub Play, Hub Stuck? I’ve got the FIX and it takes 5 MINUTES! Onyx Vesper Hub Install

I recently had to replace my wheels due to a problem with my rear wheel. Ended up landing on a set of We Are One Unions with Onyx Vesper hubs. Initially when I installed the hubs, I noticed that there was some play in the hubs and only after I called We Are One, did I figure out the issue.

I cant find any forums or manuals from Onyx explaining this fix, so hopefully this is helpful for anyone who is trying to use these hubs.

It is also worth noting that after following the bearing preload procedure, once you take the hub out of the frame again it is normal to have side to side play in the free hub body and end caps due to the floating axle design. I have confirmed this with onyx.

I'm glad I ran across this video because I had no idea this was a thing. I ordered the Vesper hubs a few days ago and won't receive them for a couple of weeks but at least now I feel much better prepared.

I have a ONYX Classic SS hub and never had that issue with axle interface to my drop outs. Perhaps it just happened to be in the correct spacing. Thanks for sharing this adjustment, it’s very important and helpful to know.

Man I wish onyx did a better job at getting this info out their service videos are absolute garbage.To make matters worse they turn the comments off. I’ve blown up a set of bearings (not cheap) I hope they eventually make some better tutorials. Great video!

Finally, the video that I need. So a quick question
How long you've been using the onyx Vesper Hub ?, and do you recomend it ?, i mean i currently looking for silent Hub, and as you know, most Hub came with that loud Even wity the high end version. Then i stumbled to onyx, but i still confused about the quality of the hub and how long it'll last, i hope you able to explain it to me if this Hub is a worth to get, because looking for latest video about this hub is somehow pretty hard, idk why, do people dislike the hub ?, .

Weird. Watching their preload video it looked like we are supposed to tighten it in rather than exposing threads hide them to remove the side to side play.
