As a Canadian I had always thought back in the day when Quebec held referendum after referendum on separatism (while being allowed to keep Canadian currency and Canadian passports and holding the entire country hostage), that instead what should happen is that the rest of Canada hold a referendum on whether we wanted them to stay and see how they like it. I've always wished England would pull the plug on Scotland. Sturgeon can't run railways, can't even buy a couple of ferry boats. Imagine if she had to run a country that didn't have billions of English pounds dropped on it every year !

I’m an ex-pat Scot who moved to England 55 years ago and I completely agree with Peter Hitchens. I’m ashamed of what my birth country has become, dependent, whingeing, tyrannical and Marxist. I just hope I can stay in England if it happens please.
