Polish and Eastern European people are usually being negatively portrayed in the American TV series and in today's video I break down the examples of how Polish women are portrayed in the popular tv shows. I am curious what you guys think as I have a mixed feelings myself 🙈

I’m preparing to teach a university course on global ethics and was literally just studying about stereotypes in the media last night. One thing I observed in this video is how much you seem to appreciate proper authentic representation of the polish woman who plays a housekeeper and seemed fine with her being in a “low status” position and more interested in her polish traits and accent, personality, intelligence, wit, and charm.

This speaks volumes to me.

I truly enjoyed hearing your perspective. I visited Poland recently and loved it. My feeling is that the creators of the show(s) wanted to have “quirky” characters and the characters just happened to be Polish. The character could have been Ukranian, Bulgarian, Austrian, Croation, the writers are just looking to insert a certain character probably not a certain country. They know nothing about Poland or Polish culture, they are just looking for a dynamic. I understand what you mean though in that it doesn’t feel good to be represented in that light. We’re all heavily influenced by the media and especially at a young age first impressions stay with us our whole lives. I think Warszawa is a great city and I loved being there. Poland is a financial and industrial rising star in Europe too. These shows can do better. Maybe they need you as a Polish advisor? Nice job on this video as well!

Polish women are amazing and so beautiful! You shouldn't be concerned by American series, a lot of clichés and false stereotypes are in there. I've been to Poland and Ukraine many times and I love both of these countries!

Also interesting how Poland is portrayed in American media in ways that are very similar to how they portray minority conservative religious cultures but that are American.
