Top UN court issues ruling: ICJ orders Israel to end its Rafah offensive

The UN's top court has ordered Israel to 'immediately and effectively' end its military offensive in Gaza's southern city of Rafah. The ruling was issued as part of South Africa's genocide case against Israel. The International Court of Justice is also demanding Israel open the Rafah land crossing with Egypt to allow lifesaving aid to get into Gaza.

What Israel is doing in Gaza and Rafah is nothing short of criminality. Even if the Court has "no enforcement" provision, it is clear to the entire world, particularly to the enablers of genocide (USA, UK), that these rulings are extremely serious. The countries that represent the rules-based order (USA, UK) are not above the law and cannot wriggle out of major international court rulings. Israel, as an occupying power, has no automatic right to "defend itself" - as the aggressor on Palestinian land. If Israel's Rafah operation was valid, either to eliminate Hamas or rescue the hostages, then the Court would not have ruled for its immediate cessation. This is highly significant and testimony to the fact that the world has clearly moved on from the barbarism and acute racism of the 19th Century colonial mindset. The USA/UK governments will soon find that embracing a colonial mindset, through the tacit support of Israel in post-racial times, is the very definition of retrogression. It is seeking to revive colonialism in a world that today rejects it completely and wholeheartedly.
