Just built mine tonight on the dining room table. My eight year old has the Aero Scout.

We are both logging hrs on the simulator and hope to fly Sunday when the winds settle down.

Thanks for the video!!!

Yeah...I just finished assembling my bind and fly model...I REALLY wish I had seen this video first, although I was able to get through it.

Ok! I'm going to try one of these! I have never flown a plane. I'll be 59 tomorrow and always wanted to try an RC plane. I'm going to try!! I'm not sure how this will go. Thanks for your video!

I know this is an old post, but I just got one and this has been a great help. Thanks.

Just to let you know when you installed your landing gear you used the incorrect plastic retainers. The correct ones are a funny looking block that has different angles cut into them they are marked left and right. Keep the plastic hardware with the rounded cutouts you used because those are for installing the floats. And then you installed the vortex generators backwards on the wing. the smaller part of the V is supposed to face the front of the plane.

And I made the exact same mistakes when I assembled mine.

I have seen two stall spin crashes and after doing some investigations noted in both cases the vortex generators were installed backwards (according to some other pilots.) Looking at the instruction manual I can see why some would be very confused as to which way they should face. I am not sure this was the cause of the two crashes I witnessed but in both cases they stalled and crashed in almost the same way. The pilots took off fine, made a right turn, went down wind and started to turn again and down they went. Both were traveling slow, but they didn't appear to be going too slow. In both cases the crashes were sudden and nasty.

THANK YOU!! with your video I didn't need any help from my parents so I might be able to fly it very soon!! because my dad was coaching soccer and I would have to wait a long time because he would get home late and we would have no time to build it.
Thank you again because you made everything very clear

Jack-Of-All :)

Just an important note: You installed the left wing outer vortex generator strip backwards. The othe 3 votrex generator are installed correctly.

Almost everyone tries to use the metal clips to install the landing gear, the metal clips are used for the floats and there are two grey plastic retainers that fit exactly to hold the main gear. Welcome to the club, I spent a long time with the gear until I realized I was using the wrong retainers.

the clips that you are using for the landing gear wire are for that purpose. Those are for the floats. the little plastic pieces go into the landing gear notches for the landing gear. They fit very well.

I could be wrong but I think the little end of the V of the vortex generator goes forward. Should have two for one side and two for the other side (port (L, red), starboard (R, green)).

Derp, Derp... they’re all the same bro. 🤪😂

Yeah... I really don’t like the flimsy plastic struts either. But they do provide more rigidity than you would think.

9:50, did these not come with 2 types of landing gear and 2 different landing gear retainers? I just got mine, and it came with the landing gear for the wheels, which use the flat landing gear retainers. And it also has the landing gear for floats, which use both the flat and notched retainers. I know this is an old video, but maybe this will help.

Oops!
If you haven’t already figured it out, those were the fittings for the water pontoons, not for the landing gear.
I did the same thing!
The fittings for the landing gear are marked L & R.
They fit perfectly.

The vortex generators on left wing are backwards.
