Heat is transferred from the camera through the metal sides. Putting the metal case in a plastic blanket will certainly help the camera retain heat. Problem is we need the metal case to radiate the heat away from the camera.

Just got mine last week. So with the SmallRig case and temper glass for the lens & screen, I feel good with the protection.
