Rigging Wrench Catches Tree Top.

The Rigging Wrench Version 2 is an alternative to a rigging block, pulley or X-Ring, but for lighter loads. I also own and have regularly used version 1, but 2 is a definite improvement. Where it stands out verses blocks and pulleys etc, is that, by design, the rope is allowed to run freely in one direction but adds friction in the other. This allows the worker to tension and raise loads, and then lower them with finger tip control. Purposely creating friction at the top of a rigging point as opposed to the bottom will also negate the potentially dangerous 2:1 loading at the rigging point, making it safer for the climber.

If you run a small operation such as mine, often working as a 2 person team, the rope friction created by the Wrench make it safe and easy for the climber to take control of the rigging line, thus freeing up the ground worker to use both hands when laying sections out as they come down on the line, as shown in the video. If you need further convincing, watch our previous video "No Margin For Error". Big thanks to Kevin Bingham for the concept and design, and ISC Wales for their excellent manufacturing of it.

Good help, willing help... helps make people who they are. I’ve struggled with this because I’m a loner... and have always been a loner. I’ve helped many men with their work but, never asked for any help from anyone on my own jobs because I don’t want to be in charge of anyone’s expectations or ventures but my own. I’ve done all my tree work solo... word of mouth jobs... and not as a business. I’ve done all my log cabin builds for people, not as a business but, as if I were a friend helping a friend yet, I really only have one man on earth I could call a friend. At 48 years old... I have found that trees and wildlife, are all that has kept me in the greater light of gray.

I never get tired of watching someone that I consider a master of his trade doing a fine job everytime I watch one of your videos. Would love to see that beautiful land up there first hand one of these days. Stay safe and great job.

I use a "home made" rig n wrench all the time. It's great if you're working with novice ground crew because you don't have to worry about them setting friction on a bollard etc, just hold the end of the rope or pull on it to lift or tension...easy peasy! I would imagine these will sell like hot cakes now and rightly so. Well done Reg 👍🏼

The efficiency of how you work and the utter control (as much as one can) is something g to see. It never gets old or boring. Thanks for taking us along with you on this job!

Love how this profession is advancing.
When I started, 16strand dacron polyester rope, a Blake's hitch-and a pulley minder was pretty hot stuff.

The rig n wrench has become such an important tool in my bag. I agree with all points made in the description as well making solo rigging much easier. Your previous videos really sold me on it. If anyone has doubts, stop doubting. Buy one, you won’t regret it.

I love them and have 2. I have a pretty big crew and we often have 2 of us in a tree at the same time or split up on different jobs and I always just run my own ropes, I prefer to natural crotch my tops though since the rope wrench really does add a lot of friction. It's amazing how much I can self lower with this thing! I have lowered my own wood off another tree and lowered massive cottonwood limbs myself.

I did tree service for a while and would love to get back into it
I'm just blown away at the way he treats his ground guy, he realizes yelling and barking orders isn't necessary lol

Good video! thanks for sharing!
I love the rigging wrench! I was super hesitant to try it at first. Since I bought it, I have fount it amazing to work with. It has a ton of applications that I didn't expect as well.

That is a feeling that cant be explained the way the pole swings like that after topping a tall skinny tree

Been in business for 28 years, and I always forget that ISC is from Wales. I am 1/8th Welsh (my Father's Mother's Great-grandfather was William Floyd - Signatory to the Declaration of guess it's cause I have used very little ISC gear over the years.... In any case, Perfect work, as always, and have a great day!
(edit: I'm a DMM fan, as far as Welsh machining goes...)

Just used it for the first time last week on a large fir with massive limbs and it was really nice to self lower since I only had one other guy with me and wanted to keep the rigging line away from the winch pile. Much better than natural crotch for pulling the rope back up but with the locking one there are definitely limbs that are too light but also questionable to be able to man handle so you have to keep that in mind and daisy chain a couple if they are not tree sized limbs. Overall, it is an invaluable tool for rigging and a must buy unlike those silly x-rings.

Looks like a good tool, I use a safeblock and after the initial limb removal I can control the decent from up the tree to free my groundy up to pull it where he needs it. Not mid line attachable but with a bit of planning it’s not a real issue.
