I went through the snobbery against quartz watches but as my collection grew and I wore some watches less often, I got a bit bored of setting the time, date, winding etc when I was in a rush. There are some fantastic quartz watches for everyday use.

Grand Seiko's Spring Drive is the best of both worlds. An automatic movement that's checked against a quartz timer, and the hands are kept on time with electronic brakes.

Love my quartz seamaster professional. Another thing that many don't mention is how automatic movement is thicker and many of them are hard to be worn under shirt cuff.

James Bond’’s first Omega was a quartz Seamaster. I have one I purchased in 1999. Love it to this day.

My go to watch is Solar as a tool watch. Low maintenance for years. I’ve now owned a titanium 200m Citizen diver and I’m amazed how many ordinary folk ask if it is a Rolex. Most people don’t have a clue.

You need a good high accuracy Quartz to keep time for all your automatics.

I used to be into automatics until I discovered “The Citizen” with its caliber 060 eco-drive quartz movement. It’s accurate to within 5 seconds a year and the build quality is astonishing. I’ve never been so excited about a watch.

I have a 42 year old quartz still going as strong as the day it was made. I really don't care about mechanical movements now and only collect quartz and solar.
